I took the opportunity on my most recent cheat day to try the Smokehouse Pizza from Little Caesars. Little Caesars describes it thusly:
Large round pizza with beef brisket, pulled pork, Applewood-smoked bacon and BBQ sauce, plus a smokehouse-seasoned crust
I’m always skeptical when it comes to fast food barbecue…especially brisket. There are certain non-fast food places that specialize in BBQ and I don’t like their brisket. So when a fast food place advertises it, I don’t gravitate towards it. But for this, I was intrigued.
Now, the reality is, I can’t tell you if the brisket was any good or not because I don’t think any one of the three meats (mmmm…) stood out over the other. The combination of all three was really good though. And I don’t think it was just my low expectations. I genuinely enjoyed this meat combination with the sauce and would totally get it again.
It was helpful that on this occasion the crust was better than usual Little Caesars fare. Although to be fair, this was a fresher pizza than my usual Hot-N-Ready pizza I get. What made the crust even better was the “smokehouse-seasoned” crust. The dusting on the crust was reminiscent of the flavoring on some BBQ potato chips.
Overall, a satisfactory meal and maybe less a pizza and more an open-face BBQ sandwich.
