Nerd Lunch Podcast 14: Drill Down–Star Wars Holiday Special

Access Hollywood’s Ultimate Star Wars Fan, Jason Collier, accompanies us to Kashyyyk for our first (and last?) annual Life Day celebration. Rather than invoke our rights under the Geneva Convention, we endure the Star Wars Holiday Special for you. Harvey Korman’s bad comedy, Carrie Fisher’s singing, and Chewbacca’s dad’s “special time” with Diahann Carroll only scratch the surface of this TV disaster. Listen and find out why George Lucas wanted to smash every copy of the special with a sledgehammer and why each of us would gladly drive him to Home Depot to buy a sledgehammer.

Great episode et again guys. Never have seen this special, and after hearing you guys talk I'm not sure I ever will. Although Bea Arthur & Star Wars seems like a Winning combination!

Don't beat yourself up, Jason. You can't claw your way through this drech BECAUSE you are the Ultimate Star Wars Fan.

To us old gits who were young back in the 70s, Art Carney WAS Ed Norton. Art had a successful later career as a guest star on other people's sitcoms, a sketch comedian, and gigs like the Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts, but he was as owned by the Ed Norton character as Adam West was by Batman.

Finally, what are you guys arguing about; aren't "fun" and "sin" synonyms?
