Nerd Lunch Podcast 30: A-Team Drill Down

Rondal from the Strange Kids Club returns to help the Nerd Lunch crew drug CT’s milk and put Jeeg in the hosting chair. Up this week is a very special episode about one of our favorite franchises, The A-Team. We spend the first part of the episode discussing the original and what made it one of the iconic shows of the 1980s. Then we turn our attention to the 2010 reboot movie and lament the fact that we won’t be getting sequels to that flick. In our Nerd To-Dos, we learn about Trash Can Trolls and somehow get a reference to the 90s kung-fu cop show Martial Law.

Bruce Campbell in anything and any role is awesome!

I'm telling you Robert, Bruce Campbell as Hannibal in a TV reboot would be amazing. He'd have to drop his usual silliness for the role, but I think he could do it and really be a worthy successor to Peppard.

Angry Birds is a modern day Pac-Man. Simple game that has some how found mass appeal. And the Rovio guys are going to milk it for all they can. And they totally should, but just like Pac-Man, this really will not translate well into other media. There was already a cartoon short that was lame and boring and any further expansion will be a let down. But this fire will burn hot and then go out quickly. Let them make as much money as they want. I know I'd want to.

Sadly I'm not that familiar with the A Team although I did see the movie and enjoyed it for the most part.

I think maybe another reboot would be done best on TV?

Oh, and while I do enjoy playing Angry Birds, I don't really get the phenomenon aspect. Certainly not the fact that the property is apparently getting the big screen treatment.

    Thanks, Stiney and Chris.

Yeah, the show is really fun but gets a bad wrap at times. I think it's brilliant and the movie was as well. Well worth checking out again if you haven't ever or in a while.

Jeeg is a huge Magnum fan so I imagine we'll get to that one. I still want to spend time finishing getting through the series before we do that one though.

Great episode again guys and based on what you said I will be checking out the 2010 A-team film. But to be honest i have not really watched this series since I was a little kid in the 80's, I just never had any desire to go back again. But base on this episode I may take a second look.

Looking forward to a 'Magnum P.I.' drill down!!
