We gather around the lunch table this week with Steve from foodjunk.wordpress.com. On the menu is a discussion of our favorite salty snack foods from chips to pretzels to crackers. We can’t seem to agree on many snack food picks, but perhaps we’ll concur on favorite high blood pressure medicines in a later episode. In our Nerd To-Dos, we hear about Steve’s run through the Godzilla movies, CT’s third viewing of The Avengers, Pax’s review of Solomon Kane, and Jeeg’s glacial progress through Angel and Farscape.

Great episode guys, sorry i didn't get a chance to listen sooner. I was so inspired/hungry while listening to this episode on the drive home from work I went out and bought a couple bags of chips from the gas station, and they are 2 of my personal favourites: 'Old Dutch' brand Mexican Chili (Rip-L) and Cheddar & Sour Cream. 'Old Dutch' would be my favourite brand, as far as I know it is only in Canada.
Also from what I understand is that 'Ketchup' chips are a Canadian thing too? or do you guys get those in the USA? I do love to munch on them from time to time and they have to be 'Old Dutch' too.
When covering "Salty Snacks" we knew it would be a lofty goal to cover everything. Popcorn, nuts, and meat snacks were on the initial list but got cut from the discussion for time. So I'm sure we'll return to this again and delve into some of those specific topics more.
I could totally go for a popcorn drill down Bill…
Just putting my two cents in. Favorite all time chip = Golden Flake Hot Chips. They're a bit robust, very much on the salty side, but I love 'em to death. Least favorite, any time Dorritos does they're mystery flavor, which is always the weirdly sweet hamburger flavor. Ug.
Lost flavors/varieties that I miss = Sour Cream and Onion Quackers (the duck-shaped crackers), with the Calypso Wise potato chips as a close second…
My favorite salty snack (not mentioned) is a bag of Rolled Gold's Braided Twists. I like the buttery, salty flavor. They have various flavors – even dipped in white chocolate! – but I like the original the best.
Oh, and, btw, why wasn't everyone's best pal, popcorn, discussed? Should I be anticipating a Popcorn Drill Down in the future?
I hate disappointing you, Jay.
It's an atrocity that neither of the following salty snacks were mentioned. They are unbelievably missed.
