Nerd Lunch Podcast 58: Zombie Survival Party

zombies_road_sign
Robert from To The Escape Hatch returns to our fourth chair as we put together the ultimate team for the zombie apocalypse with characters from across the horror genre. Robert Kirkman, Ridley Scott, John Carpenter, Valve Software, and others provide nominees for our party. Once the team is assembled, we determine the order that members get picked off, who gets infected, and who, if anyone, survives. We then rinse and repeat with a party composed of The Atomic Geeks Network crew. In our Nerd To-Dos, we hear what digital comics can be had by trading in Miami Vice DVDs, some Halloween costume planning, a mini lovefest for Ben Affleck, and plans to see The Hobbit already getting started.

Thanks again for having me on! I'm glad we all survived – I think I overdid it on the lifetime supply of Twinkies though and shotgun shells though…

    HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

My zombie survival lineup consists of Jack Burton, the de facto leader; Snake Plissken, the hardened loner; Stuntman Mike, the profiteer; Dexter Riley, the plucky youngster; Dean Proffitt, the everyman, but kind of a sleaze, too.

Stuntman Mike’s Death Proof and Jack Burton’s Pork Chop Express form a two-unit zombie-smashing convoy on the back roads of America. First to go is Dean, ironically eaten by Goldie Hawn and abandoned by his ride, Mike, who lies about it to the rest of the crew about his fate.
Second to die is Snake, who, after reminding his crew all along that he’ll drop them at the first sign of weakness, gets bitten while saving Dexter from the same fate. He wades into an oncoming horde bearing the team’s cache of grenades in a final explosion.
Third and last to go is Stuntman Mike, attacked by a hoard of girls who died in his car, but finally bitten by a reappearing, zombified Dead and torn apart by his past victims.
Jack Burton and Dexter ride off into the sunset together, hoping that the Computer Who Wore Tennis Shoes can eventually find a cure to the plague and save humanity.
