Nerd Lunch Podcast 121: Fan Fic Reviews 4

In this week’s Nerd Lunch, we return to one of our favorite franchise topics… FAN FIC REVIEWS! Thrice before we’ve done this topic (18, 62, 95) and each time we’ve had a blast. For our fourth foray into fanfic (suddenly this has turned into narration from the Batman TV show…sheesh), we do something a bit special so be sure to listen to find out our approach this time. Our guests were the returning Claymation Werewolf and Miss M from the Diary of a Dorkette blog. Nerd To-Dos included Mad Max, being a nerd, buying She-Ra action figures and Burn Notice.

I love As Time Goes By that's what I was so overjoyed that there are actual fanfictions about it!… but it's very very subtle and mellow. My wife rolls her eyes at me every time I watch it!

Thanks, Jack! Sorry to hear you had some health issues but glad you're back!

I love Judi Dench and also sarcasm. Gonna have to track down As Time Goes By

Miss M, the pleasure was all ours. Looking forward to having you back on the show again sometime!

Great 'cast, dudes and dudette. Just a couple of observations. I used to watch Chef because it was sandwiched between two other shows I followed. It never seemed like it could find its way, with comedy in the restaurant between the autocratic Chef and his demanding customers, and then serious in scenes with his wife as they would stress over such things as the marginal profits they were bringing in, and how they were going to keep the restaurant.

As Time Goes By starred Judy Dench and Geoffrey Palmer as a couple who met when she was a young nurse and he was a young soldier on his way to the Korean War. They promised to write, but as will happen in a war zone, letters went astray, and each thought the other hadn't written. They meet decades later as senior citizens and try to pick up their relationship with mostly success. The show is a wonderful sarcasm-fest, and if you're into that form, it's hard to beat.

Sorry I've been absent, but I had a 2-month health issue that kept me hospitalized with no web access. However, I'm back; tales of my demise have been greatly exaggerated. Great work, keep it up!
