The best part of this movie was Obi-Wan’s investigation.

As I commented on your Phantom Menace podcast, I edited these movies for my kids to watch (they had seen the original trilogy, but I couldn’t bring myself to inflict these movies on them unedited.)

I cut out all the slapstick, Artoo’s rockets, as much of the “romance” as possible (while putting back in the deleted cut scenes with Padme’s family, which were actually GOOD romantic moments!) I took out every bit of Yoda’s lightsaber at the end…he beats Dooku with his mind, not his leaping ability now. Maybe when he was 500 years younger, but at this point in his life he should be more reserved and powerful. I did as much as I could to remove Anakin’s whiny immaturity and the scene where he tells Padme about killing a tribe of sand people…two major reasons it’s impossible to see how she could fall in love with him.
