Nerd Lunch Podcast 304: Firsts and Lasts

One Nerd Luncher's first ride

It’s a three way dance where Jeeg, Pax, and CT discuss some of the first and most recent personal and pop culture events in their lives. The nerds cover basics like first car and first movie theater experience, but along the way veer into oddities like George Bush erasing the Flash, navigating life without TV Guide, the joys of 14.4 modems, and more.

Teenage Hayley Mills in the ’60s, and I didn’t have to dig for it! I once watched a romcom (Summer Magic) five times in one week because she was in it. Definition of a crush: I would have paid movie admission and snacks to watch her sleep for two hours… Well, maybe not, because part of it was that incredible accent! I still remember the stunned shock it threw me into in 1981 when PBS aired The Flame Trees of Thika, her first performance after a six-year hiatus. I got comfortable and prepared to indulge my childhood crush, the show started, and she was playing the mom! Hell of a show, anyway.

Another fun episode, guys. Definition of a fun episode: I read your synopsis and think “How stupid is this going to be?” and then love every minute of it!

A fine choice in Hayley Mills. Heck, I wouldn’t have been completely surprised if one of us said her as Miss Bliss in the proto-Saved By the Bell.

“How stupid is this going to be?” is how we often respond to our topic ideas so you’re in good company, Jack.
